Clean White Home Office Design + Mood Board

One of the things on top of my to do list is finally organizing and designing our home office.  Throughout our rental homes and when we first moved in here, our home office has been in multiple different locations like our bedroom, an extra bedroom, in the living room and initially when we first moved in here in the play room.  We have also gone through multiple different "desks", but each piece of furniture used as a desk has since been repurposed to a different location.  Right after we moved in here we decided to purchase a desk from a resale furniture store.  It's solid wood and is perfect size for us.  However, it's the EXACT same color as our floor.  So I have been going back and forth to decide on whether I was going to paint the desk black or white.

After lots of snooping around Pinterest and different blogs, I have finally decided to go with white with bright gold accents.  I felt like the black with gold was just a little dark and dated, but the white seems very crisp and dare I say modern.  I have put together a mood board of my design plans for the office and hopefully in the next week I'll have the desk painted and made a trip to Ikea to pick up the book shelf.

Home Office Design

As you can see from the mood board, my design goal is white with gold, pale pink and clear (glass or acrylic) accents.  I'm in love with the Kate Spade stationary and home collections (and all of her other items too of course) so I have incorporated a lot of pieces from her into the design.  A few things I want to note from the mood board that will change are the gold etagere (shelf), the lamp, and the flowers.

For the etagere, I will be purchasing this one from Ikea and spray painting it gold then adding an extra mirrored and glass shelf.  To follow my plans for this, head over to For Chic Sake to see how she transformed that shelf into a beautiful gold etagere!

I am still on the hunt for an inexpensive gold lamp like the one above, but haven't found one I love yet.

While I love having fresh cut flowers around all the time, it's not always possible.  However, I think the white roses in a clear glass bowl are beautiful in this design.

I actually just purchased the scissors and stapler from Target for $30 for both!  I believe you can only get them in the store and I found the scissors at one store and the stapler at another so if you want them to you better get over to Target fast!

I hope you enjoyed this design adventure, and as always, thanks for stopping by!
