New Bedding!

My sweet husband and I have been married for four and a half years now, and in that four and a half years have not been able to agree upon bedding until today!  My parents are in town visiting and after a long trip to the zoo we made a quick trip to Ikea.  Our intentions were to pick up a new kid's table and chairs but as we were walking around the show room we both eyeballed a bed with this beautiful taupey-grey comforter.  It was like love at first sight :)  Ok, maybe that's a little overboard but after almost 5 years of searching, it was like finding love.

So the bedding we picked is...
the MALOU duvet cover!

I bought a really nice duvet while I was in college, but we tossed the cover I bought for it shortly after we got married.  It has been sadly put away in a storage bag for the last 2 years and now it can finally be used again!  I know duvet covers aren't hard to make but we never could find sheets or fabric we agreed on either.  Who would have thought picking bedding would be so difficult? ;)

In case you were wondering, our bed was hand built by my dad.  The frame is solid wood and stained in a custom super dark chocolate color.  The headboard is padded and covered in a natural tone burlap.  We have been wanting to update the headboard, but I didn't want to make any changes until we'd bought bedding.  Now we can start working on finishing the last bit of decorating and paint our master bedroom.  Ahhh, it feels so good to mark things off the to-do list that have been on there for soooo long!

I hope you enjoyed this decorating adventure and as always, thanks for stopping by!

  1. In my opinion, bedding is harder to pick out than a couch. I can never find the perfect balance between feminine and masculine. I love what you picked! I can't wait to see it all together.

    1. Thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to start getting some room tours done soon. My daytime job is crazy busy right now so unfortunately the blog has taken a back seat until things slow down at work.
