Wet Bar Part 1: Design and Mood Board

One of the features my husband and I fell in love with in our house was the built in wet bar right off the living room.  The bones of this little bar are great however it does need some TLC.  Before we get started on these pictures, please let me warn you.  We have done NOTHING but put the alcohol in the cabinet and put the glasses on the counter so it's a mess!

Now, the cabinets that were installed "after-market" by the previous homeowners do not fit the space between the walls at all.  There is about a 3" gap on the right hand side and about a 12" gap on the left side (probably for space for the next part...)

Although I love the black leather look of the counter tops because they fit the style I am going for perfectly and they are super easy to clean and durable, there is a hole on the left side.  Now for us it's great because it's for the sink as you can tell from the plumbing coming out of the wall.  However, when we bought the house...there was no sink.  One more thing to add to the list... My wonderful parents got Adam a small wine fridge for Christmas this year which will fit perfectly under the sink.  We are also on the hunt for a tiny ice maker to have in there as well if it will fit.

As you can see, we have quite the collection of glasses so we will be displaying these on glass wall shelves.  I haven't picked an exact color for the walls yet but I know it will be some kind of charcoal grey.  Maybe something like this from Sherwin Williams called Rock Bottom (SW 7062).

I do love that you can stand behind the bar making drinks and see clearly into the living room though.  It's so handy for entertaining...which is it's main purpose right?
My dad and I are designing a custom cabinet to go directly into the space where the existing cabinet is and keep the counters.  The new cabinet will actually be totally open (no doors) with a horizontal shelf breaking up the bottom in about a 1/3 to 2/3 space.  The bottom 2/3 of the cabinet will hold the large crates in the first picture above which will house all the alcohol.  The top 1/3 of the cabinet will hold these and these small crates which will house all of the miscellaneous bar ware like corkscrews, wine stoppers, wine charms, napkins, etc.

Here is a simple 2D drawing of my design for the cabinetry...

Now I know you are waiting patiently to see what the actual decor plan is...so here you go!

I hope you enjoyed this design adventure, and as always, thanks for stopping by!
