Windsor Chair Redo

I want to share a quick and easy project we did before we officially moved into our house.  Like I mentioned in the dining room tour (here) we "inherited" the table.  Well we also inherited 6 beautiful black Windsor chairs.  Now these chairs have definitely been used and somewhat abused by a dog or small lion according to the teeth marks on the bottom of some of them but none the less we paid less than $1 for all of them and it was the exact style I wanted for the chairs in the breakfast area.

So I got out my trusty spray paint that you may remember from this post...

 ...and some heavy duty sand paper (like 3M SandBlaster Bare Surfaces Sandpaper, 120-Grit) and went to town sanding down all of the old paint to create a rough surface for the new paint to stick too.  After my husband and I sanded the chairs, we made sure to wipe them with each with a clean microfiber towel to remove any of the old paint dust and dirt before spraying the first coat of new paint.

Here is the same chair after a good scrub with the sand paper and one coat of my preferred spray paint.

Here is the same chair after 2 good coats of paint, 48 hours of drying time in the garage, and 6 months of use (I forgot to take a picture after the initial drying phase).  You can see how well the paint is holding up.

This whole process took about 15-20 minutes total active time for each chair (active meaning not including drying time).
