Organize Those Kitchen Drawers!

One of the places in our kitchen that has NEVER been organized is the drawer (or drawers in this house) that holds all of our miscellaneous kitchen tools.  Sadly, when I say never, I mean never.  In the beginning, we could barely afford the tools in the drawer to begin with so an organizational tray was WAY out of the question and then I just never got around to finding anything that would work.

Well, I have found something and I love it!  This took less than 10 minutes and only cost me $12+ tax.  I don't know if it gets better than that.

I was walking to the check out at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and happened to turn down the kitchen organization aisle and found these!

They are clear plastic 3 compartment drawer organizers and were only $6 each!!!!   Our kitchen drawers are not huge but I have about 6" of space left at one end of the organizer and about 1/2" left on one side.

The first step is to pull all those tools out of the drawer and put them up on the counter.  We went through all of our kitchen tools prior to moving and cleaned out a TON of stuff we never used and stuff I'd had since college that was ready to be tossed.  Anything that was still good was either sold in our garage sale or donated to Goodwill.  If you haven't done this in a while though, this is a great time!

Now just put the organizer in your drawer and start placing things inside.  Our drawers are not super deep so there wasn't really any room for anything to sit higher than the top of the organizer itself which meant I had to get creative with placement.  

I am so happy with how well this turned out!  Now hopefully my dishwasher-man (aka my sweet husband) will know where everything goes AND be able to find anything he needs instead of needing to ask me where it is.

Just an FYI, as seen in my Pantry/Baking Supplies Organization post HERE, I keep most of our extra baking tools in a box in the pantry because they don't get used that often.  The tools I keep in the drawers are the ones we use the most often (except the rolling pin, it was just too big to fit in the box).
