Foodie Friday: Passion Tea Lemonade

One of my best friends from college, Holly, got me absolutely addicted to Starbucks' Passion Tea Lemonade but I hate paying the $5 price tag especially since I want no HAVE to have the venti.  About a year ago, I ran across a recipe for someone's version of the passion tea lemonade and haven't stopped making it.  My husband and daughter LOVE it just as much as I do.  I can no longer find that specific recipe online (and I actually haven't been able to for a while so I'm glad I wrote it down) but there are tons out there.  This has been the simplest for me.
Ingredients:
3 bags of Tazo Passion Tea Lemonade (can get online, at Starbucks or Target)
1 container of Simple Lemonade or can of frozen lemonade concentrate*
*if you using the concentrate make sure to follow the steps on the can to mix with water first
Glass pitcher (I mentioned ours in our fridge organization post HERE!)

Note: The Tazo tea at Starbucks is much more expensive than Target however I have only ever bought the one from Target so I don't know if there is a difference in taste

Steps:
1. Boil about 1.5 cups of water in a small saucepan on the stove.
2. Once water is boiling, place the tea bags in the water and turn off the burner.  The water immediately starts to take color.  (I wrap the tags through the whole in the handle of our pot to keep them from falling in the water. ALSO make sure to turn off the burner to not burn the tags especially if you have a gas stove...you have been warned!)
3. Let steep for at least 15 minutes up to 1 hour.  (The longer the tea steeps or sits in the water, the stronger the flavor.)
\
4. Remove the tea bags and toss in the trash.
5. Let the tea cool for about 10-15 minutes, then pour the lemonade into a pitcher, add the tea and top with more lemonade then stir.

7. I do not like my drink this strong but my husband does so he drinks it just like this.  I add about a 1/2-3/4 cup of water to my glass and stir again to weaken the flavor.

NOTE!  For this recipe you DO NOT need a simple syrup because the lemonade is sweet enough.  That's why I choose to make it this way however, Starbucks does use a simple syrup if you get it sweetened and use no syrup if you get it unsweetened like I do.

I hope you enjoyed this foodie adventure and as always, thanks for stopping by!
