Dress-Up Cabinet Tour!

Yesterday, I posted a room tour for Bailey's room and promised a detailed tour of her amazing dress-up cabinet.  Well here it is!  I didn't get to document him building the cabinet because it was a surprise to all of us but he installed two shelves and a closet rod for her dress up clothes.

On top of of the cabinet she has her silver and pink Christmas tree that stays up all year (yes this was my doing but she loves it and has had it in her nursery/room since her first Christmas).  Every year she gets a new ornament to pick out and add to her tree.  In front of the tree is a picture of Adam holding her for the first time (the tree, ornaments and frame are from Hobby Lobby).

On the other side is a picture of her and I on her Valentine's Day and two Willow Tree figurines ("Now we are 3" and "Angel of Learning").  In the back hanging on the wall is her "coming home" outfit I framed in a white shadow box from Hobby Lobby with a "B" I painted hot pink and a picture of her on the day she was born.

The top shelf right now holds her treasured possessions like the silver hope chest we bought before she was born.

We are still looking for some cute hangers to use in here but haven't found any hot pink ones yet.  As you can tell she's pretty into Disney princesses right now but she does have a doctor outfit and some swords because you never know when you'll need to heal a pirate.

The bottom shelf has two pink fabric bins from Target (here) that hold her shoes, hats, tiaras, and gloves as well as three plastic containers I got from the $1 spot at Target last year to hold her "purse" supplies, jewelry, and hair and make-up stuff.  Tip: If you have make up brushes that you don't like, don't toss them...give them to your daughter for pretend play!

If you are looking for great dress-up pieces, always check the $1 spot in Target.  That bonnet and fedora were both only $1 each!

Her initials are on the left side of the cabinet.

Adam and I hung white hooks on the right side of the cabinet to hang her purses.  You can find these hangers at any store that sells hardware.

My dad really wanted to build something that can grow with her so the upper shelf is removable and the closet rod can be raised so when she is too old for her pretend play dress up clothes she can start putting some of her favorite outfits in there.
